Charles Rouleau was a lawyer who settled in the Calgary area upon his appointment to the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories which included land that would later become Alberta. Rouleau and his brother founded a French speaking village which they aptly named, Rouleauville. Eventually the city of Calgary would annex Rouleauville, renaming it the Mission District. Calgary Westways is located in the heart of the Mission area which today, is a thriving location full of shops and restaurants. The Rouleauville Room is Westways nod to the history of the Mission District.
